DMRC Wins Global UITP Award for Operational Excellence
AI-powered Sarthi App earns international recognition for seamless door-to-door metro travel
New Delhi, June 28, 2026: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has received the prestigious Operational Excellence Achievement Award from the International Association of Public Transport (UITP), recognising its innovative efforts to enhance sustainable urban mobility through technology-driven commuter services.
The award honours DMRC's AI-powered Sarthi App, a smart integrated mobility platform designed to provide commuters with a seamless door-to-door travel experience. The app combines first- and last-mile connectivity with real-time travel information and integrated ticketing, allowing passengers to plan and book their entire journey—from their home to the metro station, the metro ride itself, and onward to their final destination—all through a single platform.
One of the standout features of the Sarthi App is its unified payment system, enabling commuters to pay a single integrated fare for the complete journey, making travel more convenient, efficient, and sustainable.
The award was presented during the UITP Awards Ceremony held in Brussels on June 23, 2026. The Operational Excellence category recognises public transport organisations that demonstrate exceptional innovation, efficiency, and service quality in their daily operations.
The honour was accepted on behalf of DMRC by Dr. Amit Kumar Jain, Director (Operations and Services), and Rajnish Rana, Additional General Manager (Operations).
The recognition highlights DMRC's continued commitment to leveraging digital innovation and artificial intelligence to improve commuter experience while promoting environmentally sustainable urban transportation solutions. The achievement also reinforces Delhi Metro's position as one of the world's leading public transport systems, setting new benchmarks in integrated mobility and operational excellence.
