SRH Dominate RR as Debutant Praful Hinge Scripts Historic Opening Over
Hinge’s three-wicket first over and Kishan’s explosive 91 power Sunrisers Hyderabad to a commanding 57-run victory
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) delivered a commanding all-round performance to defeat Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 57 runs in an IPL clash on Monday, with debutant Praful Hinge stealing the spotlight through a record-breaking spell.
Hinge made an unforgettable debut, picking up three wickets in the very first over of the innings—an unprecedented feat in IPL history. He dismissed Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for a golden duck, followed by Dhruv Jurel and Lhuan-dre Pretorius, putting RR under immediate pressure. He later finished with impressive figures of 4 for 34 in his four overs.
SRH had earlier posted a formidable total of 216 for 6, powered by captain Ishan Kishan’s brilliant 91 off 44 balls. His innings, laced with boundaries and sixes, set the tone for a strong batting display. Valuable late contributions from Nitish Reddy and Salil Arora ensured the team crossed the 210 mark.
Rajasthan Royals struggled to recover from the early blows, slipping to 5 for 9 in the powerplay. Although Donovan Ferreira (69) and Ravindra Jadeja (45) stitched together a fighting partnership, the target proved too steep.
Another debutant, Sakib Hussain, also played a crucial role with the ball, claiming 4 for 24 and dismantling RR’s middle order. Together, Hinge and Hussain accounted for eight wickets, sealing a dominant win for SRH.
With this victory, SRH bounced back strongly after recent setbacks, while RR will need to reassess their approach going forward.
