Angkrish Raghuvanshi Fined by IPL for Code of Conduct Breach After On-Field Outburst
KKR youngster penalized 20% match fee and handed one demerit point following angry reaction to dismissal against LSG
Indian Premier League has taken disciplinary action against Angkrish Raghuvanshi, the young wicketkeeper-batter of Kolkata Knight Riders, for breaching the league’s Code of Conduct. Raghuvanshi has been fined 20% of his match fee and received one demerit point for his actions during Sunday’s match.
The incident occurred during KKR’s clash against Lucknow Super Giants in Match 38 of the season, which eventually went into a thrilling Super Over, with KKR emerging victorious.
The controversy unfolded in the final ball of the 5th over of KKR’s innings when Raghuvanshi was adjudged out for obstructing the field. The decision did not sit well with the youngster, who lost his composure on the field.
In a moment of frustration, he struck the boundary cushion with his bat and then threw his helmet towards the dugout. Such actions fall under a Level 1 offence as per Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which prohibits misuse of equipment or aggressive behavior during a match.
The match referee acted promptly, imposing the penalty. However, Raghuvanshi accepted the sanction and admitted the offence, ensuring that the matter did not escalate further.
