Australian Minister Tony Burke Calls Shah Rukh Khan His Favourite Bollywood Star
Praises ‘Chak De! India’ and AR Rahman’s music, reveals deep admiration for Indian cinema
The global popularity of Shah Rukh Khan continues to grow, with fans spanning across continents and professions. Adding to the list is Tony Burke, who recently revealed his admiration for the Bollywood superstar.
During a conversation on an Indian podcast, Burke shared that Shah Rukh Khan is his favourite Bollywood actor. He also named Chak De! India as his favourite Hindi film, noting a special connection since parts of the movie were filmed in Australian cities like Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne.
In a light-hearted moment, when asked whether he supported India during the film’s climactic hockey match against Australia, Burke joked that he had supported India while watching Lagaan instead.
Burke also praised Jodhaa Akbar, calling it visually stunning, and listed Om Shanti Om among his all-time favourites. He even quoted the iconic dialogue from the film: “If it’s not a happy ending, then it’s not the end—because the story is still left.”
Apart from films, Burke expressed his admiration for Oscar-winning composer A. R. Rahman, saying he enjoys listening to his music.
This admiration highlights Bollywood’s growing global influence, with Shah Rukh Khan continuing to win hearts far beyond India.
