West Bengal Government Announces 20% Hike in Dearness Allowance for State Employees

Kolkata: The West Bengal government on Monday, June 22, 2026, announced a significant increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for state government employees as part of its latest budget presentation.

Presenting the state budget, Finance Minister Swapan Dasgupta announced a 20 percent hike in DA, providing a major boost to government employees and pensioners. The announcement was made during the first budget presentation of the Shubhendu Sarkar-led government.

With the latest increase, the total Dearness Allowance for state employees will rise to 38 percent. The government clarified that the revised DA rates will be implemented from October 1, 2026.
