Voting for the second and final phase of the elections began under heavy security deployment, with over 41,000 polling stations across eight districts. Authorities have deployed nearly 2,400 CAPF companies, along with CCTV monitoring and webcasting, to ensure peaceful polling.

However, early hours saw minor disruptions. An EVM glitch in Bally reportedly triggered a clash, while BJP candidate Priyanka Tibrewal was involved in a verbal altercation at a Kolkata polling booth.

Political tensions remain high, with both major parties trading sharp accusations during the campaign. Meanwhile, controversy over the deployment of IPS officer Ajay Pal Sharma as election observer has added to the charged atmosphere.

Key leaders including Abhishek Banerjee and Mahua Moitra cast their votes early in the day, as long queues were seen at polling stations.

The Election Commission of India has barred exit polls until 6:30 PM, with results scheduled to be announced on May 4.
