Nishant Kumar Set to Become Minister in Bihar Cabinet
After initially refusing any government role, Nishant Kumar has reportedly agreed to join the Bihar cabinet following crucial discussions with Janata Dal (United) leaders.
A major political development has unfolded in Bihar as Nishant Kumar is now set to take oath as a minister in the cabinet led by Samrat Choudhary. The oath-taking ceremony is expected to be held at Gandhi Maidan.
According to sources, Nishant Kumar had earlier refused to accept any official government position. However, after a late-night meeting of senior JD(U) leaders at the party’s 7 Circular Road residence, the political situation changed completely. Party leaders reportedly convinced him that his participation in the government was necessary under the current political circumstances.
Following the meeting, the final list of ministers was handed over to Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary. Sources suggest that nearly 27 ministers could take oath in the new cabinet, including leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party, JD(U), LJP (Ram Vilas), HAM, and RALOMO.
Amid the cabinet expansion buzz, Nishant Kumar’s “Sadbhavana Yatra” scheduled for May 7 has been cancelled. The outreach campaign is now expected to resume from May 9 with a revised schedule.
Nishant Kumar has recently been touring several districts across Bihar and directly interacting with people. His simple political style has also drawn attention, especially his use of the old “Nishchay Rath” once used by Nitish Kumar without any fresh branding. Political observers believe this reflects a carefully planned low-profile political strategy.
Since joining JD(U) on March 8, 2026, Nishant Kumar has remained increasingly active in both organizational and public outreach activities, signaling a bigger role in Bihar politics ahead.
