Bengal Schools To Make ‘Vande Mataram’ Mandatory During Morning Prayer: BJP Government Issues Directive
School Education Department asks all institutions to ensure strict compliance; order to be implemented with immediate effect across the state
The West Bengal BJP government under the leadership of Suvendu Adhikari has taken another significant step in the education sector by making the singing of “Vande Mataram” compulsory in schools across the state.
According to a notice issued by the School Education Department to school heads, “Vande Mataram” must be sung during the morning prayer before classes begin. The directive stated that all students across Bengal schools should sing the national song with immediate effect.
School authorities and heads of institutions have also been instructed to ensure strict implementation of the order without delay.
The move is being viewed as an effort to promote patriotism and cultural values among students. At the same time, the decision is expected to trigger political debate in the state, with opposition parties and education groups likely to react in the coming days.
The directive has already been circulated to educational institutions, and further developments are expected as schools begin implementing the new rule.
