Authorities Demolish Mosque Minaret in Sambhal Amid Action Against Illegal Constructions

New Delhi, April 18: Authorities carried out a major demolition drive in Mubarakpur Band village of Sambhal on Friday morning as part of an operation against alleged illegal constructions, drawing significant attention across the region.

The administration specifically targeted a prominent 35-foot-high minaret of a mosque, which had long stood as a visible structure in the area. The operation was executed just ahead of Friday prayers, sending a strong administrative signal regarding enforcement measures. Heavy police deployment and the presence of senior officials marked the beginning of the drive, ensuring tight security and supervision throughout the process. Earlier in the day, between 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM, several shops located outside the mosque premises were demolished using heavy machinery.

For the minaret demolition, authorities deployed Hydra cranes. In a coordinated effort, a worker climbed the structure to secure ropes, which were then attached to two machines. The synchronized pulling led to the collapse of the minaret around 1:30 PM.

Following the demolition of the minaret, bulldozers continued operations, targeting other portions of the mosque structure as part of the ongoing drive. The action forms part of a broader crackdown on unauthorized constructions in the region, with officials emphasizing strict adherence to legal norms and urban regulations.
