Thousands of Tourists Stranded Near Atal Tunnel After Heavy Snowfall in Himachal Pradesh

Thousands of tourists visiting Lahaul and Spiti to witness fresh snowfall were stranded near the Atal Tunnel on Sunday night after heavy snowfall disrupted road movement in the region.

According to reports, tourists travelling in more than a thousand vehicles remained stuck for several hours and had to spend the night inside their cars as traffic came to a halt near the tunnel.

Authorities said that the sudden snowfall and slippery road conditions led to severe traffic congestion in the high-altitude area. Efforts were being made to manage traffic and ensure the safety of stranded travellers.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast continued rain and snowfall in the region for the next six days, raising concerns about further disruptions for tourists and local residents.
