Terror Plot Foiled? Punjab Police Bust Alleged ISI-Linked Module, Say CJP Protest Was a Target

Punjab Police claim to have foiled a major terror conspiracy allegedly orchestrated by Pakistan's intelligence agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), with a planned attack targeting the CJP protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.

According to Amritsar Police, a total of nine suspects, including four juveniles, linked to two separate modules have been apprehended. During the operation, police recovered bottle bombs, pistols, live cartridges, and other suspicious materials from the accused.

Police said the investigation revealed that one of the modules had travelled to Jantar Mantar during the CJP protest with the alleged intention of carrying out a terrorist attack. However, security agencies remained alert, preventing the suspects from executing their alleged plan, after which they reportedly returned to Punjab.

Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said the accused were allegedly operating under the instructions of Pakistan-based ISI handlers. Investigators also claim the suspects attempted to arrange local logistical support in Delhi and had established contact with a person from Uttar Pradesh, who was allegedly expected to supply weapons and explosives.

Authorities are now expanding the investigation to uncover the entire network, including its alleged foreign funding channels, local facilitators, arms suppliers, and other possible associates.

The arrests are being viewed as a significant breakthrough in efforts to prevent potential terror attacks and dismantle cross-border terror networks. The investigation remains ongoing.
