Ram Temple Trust Set for Key Reshuffle as Successor to Champat Rai Comes Under Discussion
Appointments to vacant trustee posts, selection of a new General Secretary, and CEO recruitment expected to dominate Ayodhya meeting.
Ayodhya: The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust is expected to take several important decisions during its meeting on Wednesday, including the appointment of a new General Secretary to succeed Champat Rai and the filling of three vacant trustee positions.
According to sources, Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) National General Secretary B.L. Bagra has emerged as the leading contender for the post of General Secretary. The position became vacant following Champat Rai's resignation after the alleged donation misappropriation controversy. Krishna Mohan is currently serving as the interim General Secretary.
The Trust's agenda also includes finalising the selection process for its first Chief Executive Officer (CEO), reviewing temple security arrangements, and discussing the Special Investigation Team (SIT) report submitted to the Supreme Court in connection with the alleged donation irregularities. The meeting is also expected to review the revised system for counting donations received at the temple.
Besides B.L. Bagra, several prominent saints and religious leaders are being considered for the vacant trustee positions. Among the names under discussion are Mahant Mithilesh Nandini Sharan of Hanumannivas, Mahant Kamal Nayan Das of Mani Ram Das Chhawani, Mahant Rajkumar Das, Mahant Ramsharan Das, Dr. Ramanand Das, Jagadguru Swami Vasudevacharya Vidyabhaskar, and Ayodhya royal family descendant and author Yatindra Mohan Mishra.
The vacancies arose following the resignation of Champat Rai and trustee Anil Mishra, as well as the recent demise of trustee Bimalendra Mohan Pratap Mishra.
The developments come amid the ongoing investigation into the alleged donation theft case at the Ram Temple. Eight people have been arrested so far, and the Supreme Court has asked the Uttar Pradesh government to consider entrusting the investigation entirely to the SIT to ensure a fair and transparent probe.
