ABVP Condemns Violence at NEET-UG Protest, Seeks High-Level Committee for Exam Reforms

New Delhi, July 22, 2026: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has strongly condemned the violence and clashes that took place during demonstrations at Jantar Mantar over the NEET-UG controversy and education reforms, asserting that students' legitimate concerns must be addressed through dialogue, transparency and institutional reforms rather than confrontation.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the student organisation alleged that while the protests were centred on genuine student grievances, "rogue political interests" and "anti-social elements" exploited the movement to create unrest and disrupt public order. ABVP expressed sympathy for the students and security personnel injured during the clashes and said such incidents should not be recur.

Reiterating its long-standing stand on examination irregularities, ABVP said it has consistently supported students demanding accountability in competitive examinations, including NEET-UG. The organisation recalled that it had earlier staged protests outside the National Testing Agency (NTA) headquarters and was among the first to demand a central agency investigation into alleged irregularities in the examination process.

Calling for structural reforms, ABVP urged the Government of India to establish a high-level committee to conduct a comprehensive review of the country's competitive examination system. According to the organisation, the committee should examine issues related to transparency, integrity and institutional accountability while submitting time-bound recommendations to restore public confidence in the examination process.

The student body also cautioned against the politicisation of student movements, stating that genuine student concerns should not be used to advance narrow political agendas or create instability. It alleged that such attempts indirectly strengthen forces seeking to undermine India's unity, sovereignty and social harmony, including what it described as "Deep State" networks.

ABVP appealed to students, parents, teachers, academicians and civil society to help maintain a peaceful and democratic environment for resolving educational issues while remaining vigilant against political manipulation and activities it termed anti-national.

ABVP National General Secretary Dr. Virendra Singh Solanki said irregularities in competitive examinations, particularly NEET-UG, have deeply affected millions of students across the country. He said the organisation has stood with students from the outset and maintained that their genuine demands should not be diverted for political purposes.

Solanki reiterated ABVP's demand for the formation of a high-level committee to undertake a holistic review of competitive examinations and implement institutional reforms aimed at enhancing transparency, credibility and accountability in the examination system. He added that students' concerns should ultimately be resolved through meaningful dialogue, sensitivity and systemic reforms rather than conflict or political confrontation.
