Pune Murder Case: Fiancée Allegedly Plotted Groom-to-Be's Killing After He Refused to End Engagement
Police say the accused woman and her alleged lover confessed to pushing real estate agent Ketan Agarwal into a 350-foot gorge at Lohagad Fort after he refused to call off their engagement.
A shocking twist has emerged in the murder of Pune-based real estate agent Ketan Agarwal, with police alleging that the mastermind behind the crime was his own fiancée, Siya Goyal.
According to investigators, Siya and her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary, initially attempted to mislead police by accusing each other of planning the murder. However, during custodial interrogation, both allegedly confessed to their roles in the crime.
Police claim Siya admitted that she no longer wanted to marry Ketan and had asked him to end their engagement. When he reportedly refused, she and Chetan allegedly decided to eliminate him instead.
During questioning, investigators asked the accused why they had not simply run away together. According to police, the pair said they feared social stigma and believed that eloping would bring disgrace to their families. To avoid that, they allegedly chose to kill Ketan.
Investigators have since reconstructed the crime scene at the Vinchu Kata ridge of Lohagad Fort. Police say the couple had planned the murder in advance and even agreed on a secret signal. As per the alleged plan, Siya would sit with Ketan at a secluded spot, signalling Chetan to launch the attack.
On June 18, the plan was allegedly carried out. Police say that as Siya sat beside Ketan near the edge of the ridge, Chetan approached from behind and pushed him into a 350-foot-deep gorge. Ketan reportedly had no chance to react and died after crashing onto the rocks below.
The investigation is ongoing, and police are gathering further evidence as legal proceedings continue against the accused.
