Mumbai Airport to Remain Closed for 6 Hours on May 7, Flight Operations to Halt
Both runways at Mumbai’s CSMIA will remain shut from 11 AM to 5 PM for crucial pre-monsoon maintenance work aimed at ensuring passenger and flight safety.
India’s second busiest airport, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, will remain temporarily closed on May 7 as authorities carry out scheduled pre-monsoon maintenance on both runways. During the six-hour shutdown, no flights will take off or land at the airport.
According to airport officials, the maintenance work will be conducted on Runway 09/27 and Runway 14/32 to inspect runway surfaces and address technical issues before the monsoon season begins. Airlines were informed about the closure six months in advance to help them adjust schedules and reduce passenger inconvenience.
The airport, which handles nearly 1,000 flight movements daily, recorded over 55 million passengers in FY 2024-25. Officials said advanced equipment and dedicated teams will ensure the maintenance work is completed within the planned timeframe.
