New Delhi, 13 February 2026: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla paid floral tributes to Sarojini Naidu in the Central Hall of Samvidhaan Sadan on the occasion of her birth anniversary. The commemorative event was attended by Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh, Members of Parliament, former MPs, and several dignitaries, who also offered their respects. Sarojini Naidu, fondly remembered as the “Nightingale of India,” was a renowned poet, powerful orator, and a prominent leader in India’s freedom movement. Born on 13 February 1879 in Hyderabad, she played a vital role in the struggle for independence and was a passionate advocate for women’s education and empowerment. Following independence, Sarojini Naidu became the first woman Governor of the United Province, now Uttar Pradesh, marking a significant milestone in India’s political history. Her portrait was unveiled in the Central Hall of Samvidhaan Sadan by President Dr. Rajendra Prasad on 16 December 1959, symbolizing her enduring place in the nation’s memory and history.
