J&K Youth Gaining Confidence Through National Integration Initiatives
Dr. Jitendra Singh highlights rising aspirations, participation in nation-building
Union Minister Jitendra Singh stated that youth from Jammu and Kashmir are increasingly becoming active contributors to India’s growth story, reflecting a shift in confidence and aspirations over the past decade.
Speaking at the 6th Kashmir Youth Exchange Programme – “Watan Ko Jaano”, organised under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, the minister said that focused policy efforts have helped integrate young people from the region into mainstream national opportunities.
He noted that many youths from Jammu & Kashmir are now excelling in civil services and competitive examinations, while also exploring careers in sectors like tourism, hospitality, and aviation. According to him, earlier hesitation among youth to step beyond their immediate surroundings has gradually been replaced by greater openness and ambition.
Participants from districts such as Pulwama, Bandipora, Anantnag, and Kupwara shared their experiences of visiting key national institutions, including Parliament and Rashtrapati Bhavan. They highlighted how such exposure has strengthened their sense of belonging and engagement with India’s democratic framework.
The interaction also provided a platform for students to raise suggestions, particularly regarding the need for improved sports infrastructure, better coaching facilities, and enhanced logistical arrangements for such exchange programmes. In response, the minister assured that investments in youth development and sports infrastructure in the region are steadily increasing, alongside greater transparency in selection processes.
Dr. Singh emphasized that the transformation in Jammu & Kashmir is part of a broader vision of inclusive development, ensuring that no region is left behind. He added that the growing participation of youth from the region reflects a positive shift toward integration, opportunity, and national contribution.
