Delhi Riots Case: Umar Khalid Gets Relief from High Court, Granted Three-Day Interim Bail for Mother’s Surgery

The court approved bail from 7 AM on June 1 to 5 PM on June 3, allowing Khalid temporary release on a personal bond of ₹1 lakh. During this period, he has been directed to remain within the National Capital Region (NCR) and stay at home, except for hospital visits related to his mother’s medical treatment.

The High Court noted that Khalid had previously complied with bail conditions granted for family-related matters. However, while granting limited relief, the court also observed that he is considered one of the “main conspirators” in the case.

The violence in northeast Delhi took place in 2020 amid protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC), resulting in 53 deaths and widespread unrest. 2020 Delhi
