Amit Shah Greets Matua Community on 215th Birth Anniversary of Harichand Thakur

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah extended his greetings to the Matua community on the occasion of Matua Dharma Mela, which marks the 215th birth anniversary of Purna Brahma Shree Shree Harichand Thakur.

In a message shared on X, the Home Minister conveyed his heartfelt wishes to the Matua community across the country. He described Harichand Thakur as a “divine soul” whose teachings highlighted devotion, equality, and moral living. According to Shah, these values continue to serve as guiding principles for society today.

He also expressed hope that Matua Dharma Mela 2026, being held in North 24 Parganas, would strengthen the community’s commitment to these ideals.

Harichand Thakur, the founder of the Matua sect, is widely revered by the Matua community, particularly in West Bengal and among followers across India and Bangladesh. The annual Matua Dharma Mela is an important religious and cultural gathering where devotees come together to celebrate his teachings and legacy.
