Self-Proclaimed Republic of Balochistan Claims Control Over 85% of Territory, Seeks Global Recognition
The self-declared Republic of Balochistan claims to have secured 85% of the region, established state institutions, and appealed for international recognition of its independence.
A statement released in the name of the self-proclaimed Republic of Balochistan, dated July 13, 2026, claims that its defence and security forces have secured 85% of Balochistan's territory and are now administering the region independently.
According to the statement, the group has declared Balochistan's independence, adopted a national anthem titled "Ma Chukain Balochani," introduced a national flag, established a currency called the Balochi Falus, and claims to have set up the foundations of a sovereign state.
The statement further asserts that it controls major natural resources, including gold and copper mines, more than 150 active gas fields, and over 1,200 operational coal mines across the region. It also claims to have established its own military, navy, air force, and civilian administration.
The document says that although the self-declared republic does not possess advanced military equipment such as fighter jets or heavy artillery, it claims to have a force of 500,000 personnel and states its intention to end Pakistani control over the region by the end of 2026.
The statement also alleges that members of Pakistan's armed forces, police, Frontier Corps, and Levies have resigned to join the movement, while claiming support from sections of the Baloch and Pashtun populations. It further says the group will not allow Pakistani military forces to use the region to destabilise neighbouring countries.
Concluding the statement, the self-proclaimed Republic of Balochistan calls on the international community to recognise its independence, arguing that such recognition would contribute to regional stability and help end decades of conflict.
It is important to note that these claims have not been independently verified. Balochistan remains internationally recognised as a province of Pakistan, and no major country or the United Nations has recognised the self-proclaimed Republic of Balochistan as a sovereign state.
