Court Issues Non-Bailable Warrant Against Hafiz Saeed in Pahalgam Terror Attack Case
A special court has issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against Hafiz Saeed after the NIA named him as an accused in its supplementary chargesheet in the Pahalgam terror attack case
The NIA filed the supplementary chargesheet on July 10, marking the first time Hafiz Saeed has been formally named as an accused in connection with the attack. According to the agency, it has gathered evidence indicating that the entire conspiracy behind the Pahalgam terror attack was planned from Pakistan and that Saeed played a key role in orchestrating the plot.
Following the filing of the chargesheet, the court heard the matter and subsequently issued a non-bailable warrant against the alleged mastermind.
The court's order also clears the way for proceedings to conduct a trial in absentia, allowing the case to move forward even if the accused remains outside India's jurisdiction. Authorities are also expected to initiate the legal process to have Hafiz Saeed declared a proclaimed offender (fugitive).
The Pahalgam terror attack claimed the lives of 26 people, making it one of the deadliest terrorist incidents in the region in recent years. The investigation into the attack is ongoing, with the NIA continuing to pursue those allegedly involved in planning and executing the conspiracy.
