Fuel Prices Hiked Across India; Petrol, Diesel Up by Rs 3 Per Litre, CNG Costlier by Rs 2
OMCs cite mounting losses amid ongoing West Asia crisis; revised prices effective immediately
In a major blow to consumers, oil marketing companies (OMCs) on Friday announced a hike in fuel prices across the country amid rising global crude oil concerns linked to the ongoing West Asia crisis. Petrol and diesel prices have been increased by Rs 3 per litre each, while compressed natural gas (CNG) has become costlier by Rs 2 per kilogram. The revised rates came into effect immediately on Friday.
In Delhi, the price of petrol has risen from Rs 94.77 per litre to Rs 97.77 per litre, marking an increase of Rs 3. Diesel prices have also gone up from Rs 87.67 per litre to Rs 90.67 per litre.
Meanwhile, CNG prices in the national capital have increased by Rs 2 per kilogram. Following the revision, CNG will now cost Rs 79.09 per kg in Delhi.
According to sources, OMCs have been facing mounting financial pressure due to fluctuations in global crude oil prices and supply concerns triggered by tensions in the Middle East. The latest hike is expected to impact transportation costs and could further push inflationary pressure on essential commodities.
The increase in fuel prices is likely to affect daily commuters, transport operators, and households already dealing with rising living expenses. Experts believe that if the geopolitical tensions continue, fuel prices may remain volatile in the coming weeks.
