India’s First Bullet Train Design Unveiled, Features Saffron Touch and Aircraft-Inspired Look

New Delhi | May 19, 2026 The Ministry of Railways has officially unveiled the design of India’s first bullet train, sparking fresh excitement around the country’s ambitious high-speed rail project. The proposed train image has been displayed at Gate No. 4 of the Railway Ministry’s office in New Delhi, drawing widespread attention.

According to railway officials, the high-speed train will operate on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR) corridor, India’s first bullet train route. The newly revealed design showcases a futuristic and aerodynamic appearance, with a sleek front inspired by aircraft design to enhance high-speed performance.

One of the striking visual elements of the train is the visible saffron colour theme integrated into its exterior, adding a unique aesthetic identity to the project. The streamlined nose section resembles an aircraft, reflecting the advanced engineering behind the train’s speed and efficiency capabilities.

Earlier in February, Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed the Lok Sabha that the 508-kilometre Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Project will pass through Maharashtra, Gujarat, and the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli.

The route will include a total of 12 stations — Mumbai, Thane, Virar, Boisar, Vapi, Bilimora, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Anand, Ahmedabad, and Sabarmati — significantly improving travel connectivity between major economic hubs.

The unveiling of the train’s design has reignited discussions around India’s bullet train ambitions, with many eagerly awaiting updates on the project’s launch timeline.
