Suvendu Adhikari Signals Crackdown on Alleged Illegal Immigrants in West Bengal
BJP leader says voter list verification is complete, deportation process may begin soon; launches sharp attack on TMC, CPM, and Congress
West Bengal Leader of Opposition and BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari on Monday made strong remarks regarding alleged illegal immigrants in the state, asserting that the process of identifying and removing names from voter lists has already been completed and deportation could begin soon.
Addressing the issue, Adhikari claimed that authorities had first identified alleged illegal residents through voter list verification before removing their names. He added that the next step would be deportation, though he did not provide a specific timeline for when the process would begin.
The BJP leader also projected confidence in his party’s political commitments, stating that a BJP-led government in West Bengal would prioritize national security. “Nation First” remains our priority, and BJP will fulfill the commitments it has made,” he said.
Taking aim at political opponents, Adhikari alleged that the ruling All India Trinamool Congress (TMC), the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM), and Congress were uneasy over his political rise. He further claimed that people in neighboring Bangladesh, particularly members of the Jamaat organization, were also concerned by his political stance.
Adhikari maintained that attempts to intimidate him would not deter his position, reiterating his commitment to a nationalist agenda focused on security and governance.
