Japan’s ‘Human Washing Machine’: A Futuristic Bathing Experience

Japan has unveiled a unique innovation — the “Human Washing Machine,” a high-tech device designed to clean the human body automatically. Developed by Science Inc., the machine was first showcased at Expo 2025 and is now being introduced in limited numbers.

The device looks like a futuristic capsule, around 7.5 feet long, where users can sit comfortably. In just 15 minutes, it completes a full-body cleaning process without any manual effort. Instead of traditional water pressure, it uses microbubbles and gentle steam to remove dirt, oil, and dead skin cells, offering a deep yet gentle cleanse.

Beyond hygiene, the machine provides a relaxing, spa-like experience. Soft lighting and calming music enhance comfort, while an automatic drying system eliminates the need for towels. Advanced sensors monitor heart rate and physical condition, ensuring safety by adjusting or stopping the process if discomfort is detected.

However, this innovation comes at a high cost. Priced at around 60 million yen (over ₹3 crore), the machine is currently out of reach for most consumers. Initially, only 40–50 units will be produced.

For now, the Human Washing Machine is available in select luxury locations, including a hotel in Osaka, with demo access in Tokyo. While not yet mainstream, it offers a glimpse into the future of personal care, combining convenience, technology, and relaxation.
