KL Rahul’s 152 Goes in Vain as Punjab Kings Pull Off Record Chase

In one of the most unforgettable matches in IPL history, Punjab Kings pulled off a record-breaking chase to defeat Delhi Capitals by six wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Delhi Capitals, powered by a sensational innings from KL Rahul, posted a massive total of 264. Rahul remained unbeaten on 152 off just 67 balls, smashing 16 fours and 9 sixes. He was well supported by Nitish Rana, who scored a quickfire 91, as the duo stitched together a 220-run partnership — one of the highest in IPL history.

Despite the daunting target, Punjab Kings showed no signs of pressure. Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya launched an explosive start, adding 116 runs in the powerplay. Prabhsimran hammered 76 off 23 balls, while Arya chipped in with 43 off just 17 deliveries, setting the tone for an unbelievable chase.

Delhi briefly fought back with wickets from Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav, reducing Punjab to 145/3. However, Shreyas Iyer held his nerve with a composed unbeaten 71, guiding the team home alongside Shashank Singh.

Punjab Kings successfully chased down 265 with seven balls to spare, registering the highest successful run chase in men’s T20 cricket history.

Despite Rahul’s record-breaking knock — the highest T20 score by an Indian — it ended in heartbreak as Punjab’s fearless batting rewrote the record books.
