Delhi Capitals Pull Off Stunning Comeback Win Over Lucknow Super Giants
Sameer Rizvi’s unbeaten 70 anchors recovery after top-order collapse in IPL 2026 thriller
New Delhi : A dramatic encounter in the Indian Premier League 2026 saw the Delhi Capitals script a remarkable six-wicket victory over the Lucknow Super Giants, overcoming a disastrous start to chase down a target of 142.
Delhi’s innings got off to a nightmare as they slumped to 26/4 within five overs, courtesy of early breakthroughs from Mohammed Shami and Prince Yadav. The collapse included key wickets, leaving the visitors in deep trouble.
However, impact substitute Sameer Rizvi turned the match around with a composed and match-winning 70 off 47 balls. Supported brilliantly by Tristan Stubbs (39), the duo stitched an unbeaten 119-run partnership, guiding Delhi to victory with 17 balls to spare.
Earlier, Delhi’s bowlers laid the foundation for the win. Lungi Ngidi and T Natarajan picked up three wickets each to restrict Lucknow to 141 in 18.4 overs. Kuldeep Yadav also chipped in with crucial breakthroughs.
For Lucknow, skipper Rishabh Pant had a disappointing outing, getting run out cheaply. Contributions from Mitchell Marsh (35) and Abdul Samad (36) helped briefly, but regular wickets halted momentum.
With this win, Delhi Capitals gain early momentum in the tournament. Attention now shifts to the upcoming clash between Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad at Eden Gardens, where both teams will look to register their first win of the season.
