Marco Rubio Likely to Visit India Next Week for QUAD Meeting

New Delhi, May 16: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is expected to visit India next week to participate in the upcoming QUAD Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, marking his first official visit to the country since taking office.

According to reports, Rubio is likely to arrive in India on May 24, where he is expected to engage in high-level discussions on regional security, trade, energy cooperation, and strategic partnerships between India and the United States. The visit is being viewed as significant for strengthening diplomatic ties between the two countries.

Speculation around Rubio’s visit gained momentum after US Ambassador Sergio Gor shared a social media post expressing excitement about welcoming the Secretary of State to India “exactly one week from now.”

Rubio is expected to attend the QUAD Foreign Ministers’ Meeting alongside counterparts from India, Japan, and Australia. Key agenda items are likely to include Indo-Pacific security, China’s expanding influence, maritime cooperation, and regional stability.

During the visit, Rubio may also meet India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri in New Delhi. The meetings are expected to focus on enhancing bilateral cooperation across sectors including technology, trade, energy security, and geopolitical developments in West Asia.

While an official confirmation from the US Embassy is yet to be issued, diplomatic sources suggest the visit is nearly finalized and could help further strengthen both the QUAD alliance and India-US strategic relations.
