Speaking to BeerBiceps, Lee said that whether Vaibhav is 15, 16, 17 or 18 should not overshadow what he is achieving on the field.
“He is brilliant. People outside India will obviously ask, is he really 15? That will probably be the biggest talking point in world cricket. If he is 15, fantastic. But if he is 17 or 18, who cares? The kid can play cricket,” Lee said.
Lee described Vaibhav as one of India’s great discoveries and backed him to achieve major things in the future.
The teenager has already showcased his talent in the IPL, including a stunning 97-run innings against Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he took on Australian fast bowlers with fearless attacking cricket.
Lee said Vaibhav was not simply relying on form but displayed an advanced cricketing mindset.
“He was playing genuine cricketing shots. It’s not just his batting form; it’s what goes on in his mind,” Lee said, while urging people to allow the young batter to remain a child and avoid putting excessive pressure on him.
Vaibhav has also made his India debut, becoming the youngest player to represent the country in international cricket. With his explosive batting and fearless approach, the teenage sensation is already being viewed as one of Indian cricket’s most exciting prospects.
