Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has ignited a fresh political controversy after claiming that his microphone was muted while he was addressing the Lok Sabha during a debate on student protests and recent police action.
According to Rahul Gandhi, the interruption occurred shortly after he mentioned Union Home Minister Amit Shah during his speech. He alleged that he was prevented from completing his remarks, accusing the government of trying to silence opposition voices inside Parliament.
Taking to social media after the session, Gandhi wrote, "You can turn off my mic, but not the voice of students." He said the issue was larger than an individual speech, arguing that the concerns of students and young people could not be suppressed.
The incident quickly became the centre of a political storm, with Congress leaders accusing the government of stifling democratic debate and restricting the Opposition's right to speak in Parliament.
The BJP and government leaders, however, rejected the allegations. They denied that Rahul Gandhi's microphone had been deliberately muted and maintained that parliamentary proceedings are conducted according to established rules and procedures. Similar allegations have surfaced in previous parliamentary sessions, with the Speaker's office stating that microphones are not switched off arbitrarily.
