Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, widely known for his signature black-and-white attire, has finally explained why he consistently chooses to wear only those two colors.

Addressing a major rally in Tiruchirappalli (Trichy), Vijay responded to growing curiosity and political discussions surrounding his dressing style. He said that his choice of black and white carries a symbolic political message and reflects his approach to governance.

“Many people are talking about why I wear suits. Why can’t we wear suits? Is it only those in power who have the right to wear them? Certainly not,” Vijay said during his speech.

The Chief Minister added that people often notice he does not experiment with different colors and instead sticks to black and white. Explaining the meaning behind his fashion choice, Vijay said the colors symbolize clarity and honesty in both politics and decision-making.

“I will remain black and white in everything,” he remarked, emphasizing that his politics and governance would always remain transparent and straightforward.

Vijay further hinted at the political symbolism of black, stating that the people attending the rally understood its deeper meaning. In Tamil Nadu politics, black has historically been associated with the Dravidian movement and resistance politics.

His remarks come amid increasing public and political speculation over his repeated appearance in black-and-white suits. The Trichy rally marked the first time Vijay openly addressed the reason behind his distinctive look.
