West Bengal Elections 2026: PM Narendra Modi to Address Key Rallies as Campaign Heats Up

New Delhi | April 11, 2026 The campaign for the West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026 has intensified, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi set to address three major rallies across the state today. The rallies will be held in Katwa (Purba Bardhaman), Jangipur (Murshidabad), and Kushmandi (Dakshin Dinajpur), as the BJP steps up its outreach ahead of voting.

The elections will take place in two phases—April 23 and April 29—with less than two weeks remaining. Political activity has surged, with top leaders from both major parties holding rallies, roadshows, and public meetings across the state.

On Friday, tensions flared in Hooghly district, where supporters of the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) clashed during a campaign event. BJP candidate Biman Ghosh alleged that four party workers were injured, and an FIR is being filed.

Earlier, PM Modi addressed rallies in Haldia, Asansol, and Birbhum, launching sharp attacks on the ruling TMC government. He called for political change in the state and announced “six guarantees” aimed at governance reforms and development.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, leader of the TMC, is contesting from the high-profile Bhabanipur constituency. She faces BJP candidate Priyanka Tibrewal in what is shaping up to be a closely watched electoral battle.

The political discourse has also taken a cultural turn, with both parties invoking “maach” (fish)—a key symbol of Bengali identity—in their campaigns, reflecting the deep connection between politics and regional culture.

With high-stakes contests, heated rhetoric, and growing voter engagement, West Bengal is set for a fiercely fought electoral showdown.
