Saayoni Ghosh Denies Property Link to Abhishek Banerjee, Warns of Legal Action Over ‘Fake News’

Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Saayoni Ghosh has strongly denied allegations linking her to a Kolkata property reportedly associated with senior TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee, terming the claims “fake news” and warning of legal action against those spreading them.

The controversy erupted after reports and social media claims alleged that Ghosh jointly owned a property located at Seven Tanks Road in Kolkata along with Banerjee. Responding sharply, the actor-turned-politician dismissed the allegations as baseless and urged people to verify her publicly available financial disclosures.

In a post on social media, Ghosh stated that all her assets had already been declared in her election affidavit and were available in the public domain. She accused certain groups of attempting to tarnish her image through misinformation and made it clear that she would not remain silent.

“Stop spreading false information without evidence,” Ghosh said, adding that legal action would be taken against those involved in what she described as a deliberate defamation campaign.

The row comes just a day after Ghosh alleged receiving an “open death threat” from a BJP leader in Uttar Pradesh, further intensifying the political confrontation between the ruling TMC and the BJP.

Meanwhile, the Trinamool Congress accused the BJP of running a politically motivated smear campaign by allegedly circulating civic notices linked to properties associated with party leaders, including Abhishek Banerjee. The party claimed the allegations were fabricated and aimed at damaging the reputation of senior TMC figures ahead of crucial political developments in West Bengal.

The controversy also gained momentum after BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari accused individuals linked to the TMC of accumulating multiple properties and raised questions over alleged ownership patterns.

Reacting earlier to the broader allegations, Banerjee struck a defiant tone, asserting that political pressure or notices would not deter his fight against the BJP.
