Fresh Trouble Brews for DK Shivakumar as Karnataka Ministers Rush to Delhi Over Portfolio Discontent

Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar is facing renewed political pressure as fresh signs of dissatisfaction emerge within the state Cabinet over portfolio allocations. Despite recently resolving the Ramalinga Reddy rebellion, new tensions have surfaced, with ministers and Congress leaders travelling to Delhi to discuss concerns with the party high command.

Among those in the national capital is Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, who has reportedly expressed dissatisfaction with the powers attached to his portfolio. Although assigned the Bengaluru Development Department, Gowda is yet to officially take charge and is seeking control over the Bengaluru Development Authority (BDA) and Bengaluru Metropolitan Region Development Authority (BMRDA), both considered crucial for urban planning and development.

Congress MLA Rizwan Arshad has also reached Delhi and is reportedly lobbying for a position in the Karnataka Cabinet, adding to speculation that internal issues within the Congress government remain unresolved.

The developments come shortly after Shivakumar defused a major political crisis involving senior Congress leader Ramalinga Reddy, who had resigned from his portfolio after claiming he was denied the Bengaluru Development Department despite prior assurances.

Following late-night discussions, Shivakumar described the issue as a “family matter” and insisted all differences had been resolved. However, the latest political activity suggests the challenge of balancing expectations within the ruling Congress remains far from over.
