DMK Leader Anita Radhakrishnan Predicts Early Fall of CM Vijay Government in Tamil Nadu
Senior DMK MLA claims Joseph Vijay-led alliance government will not last six months, challenges TVK leader to direct electoral contest
Political tensions in Tamil Nadu have intensified following the historic change in power, with senior DMK leader and Tiruchendur MLA Anita Radhakrishnan launching a sharp attack on the newly formed alliance government led by Chief Minister Joseph Vijay.
Speaking at a party event in southern Tamil Nadu on Sunday, Radhakrishnan claimed that the new government would not survive for more than six months and predicted the return of DMK chief M.K. Stalin as Chief Minister after the party’s defeat in the April Assembly elections.
The senior DMK leader alleged that the ruling coalition was unstable and expressed confidence that the political landscape in the state would soon shift again in favour of the opposition.
During his speech, Radhakrishnan also directly targeted senior Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Aadhav Arjuna, who won from the Villivakkam constituency, openly challenging him to resign from his MLA post and contest against him in Tiruchendur.
Issuing a public challenge, Radhakrishnan reportedly said that if Aadhav Arjuna had the courage, both leaders should resign from their respective seats and face each other in a direct electoral battle in Tiruchendur. He asserted that Tiruchendur remained a stronghold of his political influence and claimed confidence in defeating any political opponent there.
Tiruchendur has been considered Radhakrishnan’s political bastion for over two decades. He first won the constituency in 2001 on an AIADMK ticket before later joining the DMK, under whose banner he has continuously retained the seat since 2009.
The remarks have added fresh heat to Tamil Nadu’s political atmosphere, as the newly formed government faces criticism and challenges from opposition leaders soon after assuming office.
