Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Starts Virtual Meetings to Promote Fuel Conservation and Efficient Governance

New Delhi, May 15: In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for energy conservation, resource savings, and responsible living, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has initiated a series of virtual administrative meetings to promote efficient governance and reduce fuel consumption.

During a review meeting held via video conferencing from the Delhi Secretariat on Friday, the Chief Minister instructed Divisional Commissioners, District Magistrates (DMs), and senior officials to prioritize online meetings to save fuel, time, and resources.

Gupta directed all departments to reduce fuel expenditure on official vehicles by at least 20 percent and strictly implement initiatives such as ‘Metro Monday’ and a weekly ‘No Vehicle Day’ to encourage the use of public transport and sustainable commuting.

The Chief Minister also ordered regular inspections of public facilities, including Atal Canteens, Arogya Mandirs, fire department offices, and other citizen service centers to ensure better service delivery.

Reviewing monsoon preparedness, Gupta directed officials to identify waterlogging-prone areas, remove dangerous trees, and ensure drains remain properly maintained to avoid public inconvenience during heavy rains. She also instructed authorities to speed up PNG connection-related work and address local issues promptly.

Additionally, officials were asked to regularly share updates on government work through social media to ensure transparency and public awareness.
