Youth Climbs High-Voltage Tower, Demanding ₹25 Lakh Loan in UP’s Banda

In a dramatic incident in Uttar Pradesh’s Banda district, a young man climbed a high-voltage electricity tower after allegedly failing to secure a ₹25 lakh loan for a dairy farming business. The incident, which unfolded in the Baberu area, triggered panic and drew large crowds as police worked for hours to bring him down safely.

According to reports, the youth had been seeking financial assistance to start a livestock business involving cows and buffaloes. However, after making repeated visits to banks without success, frustration reportedly pushed him to take the extreme step.

Witnesses said the man climbed the towering electricity structure and began shouting demands for officials to hear his plea and arrange the loan. As locals gathered, some recorded videos and photographs of the high-voltage drama, turning the scene into a public spectacle.

Police rushed to the spot after receiving information and attempted to convince the man to come down. Despite repeated persuasion, he allegedly refused, insisting on his demand for financial support.

Officials said the youth had been under mental stress due to unemployment and financial difficulties. Married last year and one of six brothers in the family, he was reportedly struggling to arrange funds for his business plans.

After hours of negotiation, police successfully rescued him without injury, avoiding what could have turned into a major tragedy due to the dangerous high-voltage lines.

Baberu SHO Rajendra Singh confirmed that the man was safely brought down and later counselled at the police station. He was eventually handed over to his family members.

The incident has sparked discussions about unemployment, financial struggles, and the challenges faced by aspiring entrepreneurs in accessing business loans, especially in rural areas.
