UPSC Introduces New Measures to Enhance Exam Transparency
Provisional answer keys to be released from 2026; grievance redressal and moderation processes strengthened
In line with a Supreme Court directive, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has introduced new guidelines to improve transparency in its examination process. From the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination 2026 onwards, UPSC will release provisional answer keys on its official website after the exam for all structured examinations. However, marks of the Preliminary Examination will continue to be disclosed only after the final results are declared.
To maintain fairness across optional subjects, UPSC follows inter-subject moderation to ensure candidates are not disadvantaged based on their subject choices. Details of the evaluation and moderation process for descriptive answers are also publicly available on the UPSC website.
The CSAT paper remains qualifying in nature, designed to test basic analytical ability, with questions set at the matriculation level.
For addressing discrepancies, UPSC has strengthened its grievance redressal mechanism. Candidates will be able to raise objections through the Question Paper Representation Portal (QPRep), and can also submit complaints via CPGRAMS or email.
The information was shared by Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha.
