Red Bird Aviation Training Aircraft Makes Emergency Landing Near Baramati, Student Pilot Safe

New Delhi, May 13, 2026: A training aircraft operated by Red Bird Aviation made a forced landing near Baramati Airport in Maharashtra on Wednesday after the student pilot reported a technical issue during a solo flying exercise, according to a statement issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

The aircraft involved was a Tecnam 2008JC bearing registration VT-RFY, operated by Red Bird Aviation, a Flight Training Organisation (FTO). The incident occurred while the aircraft was engaged in a solo training sortie.

As per the DGCA statement, the first circuit and landing during the training session were completed successfully. However, during the second circuit, the student pilot noticed a technical glitch in the aircraft and decided to carry out a precautionary forced landing.

The aircraft landed in an open field at Gojubovi, located near Baramati Airport. The student pilot escaped unharmed, though the aircraft sustained damage during the landing.

Officials said the pilot’s timely response helped avert a major accident. No injuries or casualties were reported on the ground.

The DGCA has initiated an investigation into the incident to determine the exact cause of the technical malfunction and examine the circumstances leading to the emergency landing.
