PM Modi Unveils ₹18,000 Crore Development Projects in Kolkata
Prime Minister highlights new railway infrastructure and regional development initiatives for West Bengal and Eastern India.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday shared glimpses of his address during the inauguration and foundation stone laying ceremony of multiple development projects worth more than ₹18,000 crore in Kolkata, West Bengal. The projects aim to strengthen infrastructure and accelerate growth across the eastern region of India.
Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister said that a new chapter of development is being written for West Bengal and Eastern India. He emphasized the government’s commitment to modernising railway infrastructure and improving connectivity in the state.
In a series of posts on X, Modi highlighted that the central government is ensuring that West Bengal keeps pace with the nationwide railway modernisation drive. As part of the initiative, six Amrit Bharat railway stations were inaugurated to enhance passenger facilities and improve travel infrastructure.
The Prime Minister also flagged off a new express train connecting Purulia and Anand Vihar Terminal, which is expected to strengthen connectivity between eastern India and the national capital region. According to the government, these projects will boost economic activity, improve transport networks, and create new opportunities for trade and employment in the region.
Officials said the initiatives reflect the Centre’s focus on balanced regional development and strengthening key infrastructure in eastern India.
