NEET to Go Online from Next Year, Says Dharmendra Pradhan Amid Paper Leak Row
Education Minister vows strict action against culprits, says NEET will be conducted as a computer-based exam to prevent paper leaks.
Amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the alleged NEET paper leak, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan addressed the media for the first time on Friday and made a major announcement regarding the future of the examination.
Speaking at a press conference, Pradhan asserted that the government would take stringent action against those responsible for any wrongdoing linked to the examination process. He said the authorities would track down the culprits “even from the depths of the earth,” underscoring the Centre’s determination to ensure accountability.
In a significant move aimed at strengthening exam security and preventing leaks, the minister announced that the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) will be conducted online from next year. The examination will shift to a computer-based format, replacing the current offline mode.
The decision comes amid growing concerns over the integrity of competitive examinations and repeated allegations of question paper leaks. The government believes that transitioning NEET to an online system could help improve transparency, security, and efficiency in conducting one of India’s largest entrance exams.
