A bizarre dispute over a mosquito net reportedly escalated into a violent clash between two undergraduate students at Aligarh Muslim University.

The incident took place at the university’s SS North Hall hostel, where a BA second-year student from Kashmir and his third-year roommate from Ghazipur got into a heated argument that later turned physical.

According to reports, the conflict began after the Kashmiri student installed a mosquito net around his bed to protect himself from mosquitoes. His roommate objected, claiming that the net was blocking the airflow from the room cooler and causing more mosquitoes to gather around him instead.

The Ghazipur student allegedly argued that because of the mosquito net, “even the mosquitoes from your side are now biting me.”

What started as a verbal disagreement soon escalated into abuse, shouting and eventually a physical altercation between the two students. The situation reportedly created tension inside the hostel premises. Following the clash, both students submitted written complaints against each other at the university’s proctor office. The administration has now initiated an inquiry into the matter.

University authorities are currently examining the complaints and speaking to those involved to determine the exact sequence of events.
