Prime Minister Narendra Modi met India’s Commonwealth Games 2026 medal winners at his official residence and congratulated them on their outstanding performances.

During the interaction, the athletes shared their experiences and memorable moments from the Games. PM Modi praised their dedication and encouraged them to continue working hard and bringing glory to the country.

The Prime Minister also shared a video of the meeting on social media. In the video, boxer Sakshi Chaudhary expressed her happiness at meeting PM Modi and described the interaction as a proud moment for the athletes.

When Sakshi asked PM Modi to say a few words, he responded with the message, “Jo khelega woh khilega”, meaning “Those who play will flourish.” He also said, “Always cheer for Bharat” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai.”

India finished the CWG 2026 campaign with an impressive 39 medals, including 13 gold, 17 silver and 9 bronze, finishing fourth in the overall medal standings.

Boxing was the standout sport for India, producing a record 10 medals, including seven golds. Olympic medallist Lovlina Borgohain won silver in the women’s 75kg category, while Sakshi Chaudhary was among India’s prominent boxing performers.

The meeting highlighted the country’s growing sporting ambitions and PM Modi’s encouragement for Indian athletes to aim even higher on the global stage.
