Ghaziabad: A leopard entered the premises of Green Field School located on NDRF Road in Ghaziabad at around 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, triggering panic and immediate safety measures. According to ACP Kavinagar Suryabali Maurya, the leopard had also been spotted on CCTV footage on NDRF Road on Tuesday night.
Officials said the leopard attempted to enter the school’s classrooms but failed as the doors were locked. The animal was seen roaming in the school ground for nearly two minutes before jumping over the boundary wall and fleeing the area.
A security guard noticed the leopard inside the campus and promptly alerted the school management. As a precautionary measure, the Class 11 examination scheduled for Wednesday was cancelled, and parents were informed via message not to send their children to school. Authorities noted that the timely response helped avert a potential mishap. Following the incident, all school gates were shut. Teams from the forest department rushed to the spot and set up traps along nearby routes to capture the animal. ACP Maurya, along with a police team, reached the location, imposed barricades on NDRF Road, and diverted traffic to ensure public safety.
The forest department has laid nets to capture the leopard, while police personnel have been deployed in the area. Search operations are ongoing.
