Father Allegedly Kills 9-Year-Old Daughter in Pune, Burns Body to Destroy Evidence

A shocking incident has emerged from Maharashtra’s Pune district, where a father allegedly murdered his nine-year-old daughter using a wood-cutting machine and later burned her body in an attempt to destroy evidence.

According to police officials, the incident took place in Deulgaon Raje village in Daund taluka. The accused has been identified as Shantaram Duryodhan Chavan, who was arrested along with his associate Chinki Bhosale.

Police said the crime was triggered by a dispute involving a school marksheet. Investigators revealed that the girl had allegedly tampered with her stepbrother’s marksheet after she secured second position in class while her brother ranked first.

As soon as Chavan learned about the alleged alteration, he reportedly became furious and attacked his daughter with a wood-cutting machine, leading to her death.

Officials further stated that the accused then attempted to make the death appear accidental. He allegedly wrapped the child’s body in cloth and set it on fire in an effort to destroy evidence.

Police later recovered the partially burnt body of the girl and sent it to Sassoon General Hospital for postmortem examination and DNA testing.

Authorities have also booked Bhosale for allegedly helping conceal evidence and failing to inform police about the crime. Further investigation into the case is currently underway.
