CUET PG 2026 Exam Begins: NTA Conducts Entrance Test in Multiple Shifts Across Indiap

The Common University Entrance Test for Postgraduate (CUET PG) 2026 is currently being conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) across various examination centres in India. The national-level entrance examination began on March 6, 2026 and will continue until March 27, 2026, providing students with an opportunity to secure admission into postgraduate programmes offered by central and participating universities.

According to official updates, NTA has released admit cards for exams scheduled between March 11 and March 13, which candidates can download from the official website using their application number and password.

Exam Schedule and Shifts

The CUET PG 2026 examination is being conducted in computer-based test (CBT) mode and organised in three shifts each day to accommodate a large number of candidates appearing for different subjects. Each exam session lasts 90 minutes.

The shift timings are:

Shift 1: 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM

Shift 2: 12:30 PM – 2:00 PM

Shift 3: 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM

More than four lakh candidates have registered for the entrance exam this year, making it one of the largest postgraduate entrance tests conducted nationwide.

Question Paper Pattern and Difficulty Level

The CUET PG question paper consists of 75 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) carrying a total of 300 marks. Each correct answer awards four marks, while one mark is deducted for every incorrect response.

Initial feedback from students suggests that the question papers across subjects have been moderate in difficulty, focusing mainly on conceptual understanding and application-based questions.

Dress Code and Exam-Day Guidelines

The NTA has issued strict guidelines regarding the dress code and items allowed inside examination centres. Candidates are advised to wear simple and comfortable clothing, avoiding accessories, jewellery, and outfits with large metallic buttons.

Open footwear such as sandals or slippers is allowed, while closed shoes and electronic devices are prohibited inside the exam hall. Authorities have also advised candidates to reach the exam centre early and carry their admit card along with valid photo identification.

Importance of CUET PG

The CUET PG examination plays a crucial role in admissions to postgraduate programmes in central universities and other participating institutions across India. The scores obtained in the exam are used by universities to shortlist candidates for various master’s courses in disciplines such as social sciences, science, management, law, and humanities.

With the exam continuing through March, NTA is expected to release provisional answer keys and results after the completion of all shifts, allowing candidates to check their performance and begin the admission process.
