In a significant development for urban transport in the National Capital Region, the Union Cabinet has approved an 11.6-km extension of the Noida Metro’s Aqua Line. The project, estimated at ₹2,254 crore, is expected to enhance daily commuting and reduce travel time between Delhi and Noida. The expansion will extend the Aqua Line from Botanical Garden Metro Station to Noida Sector 142, adding eight new elevated stations along the corridor. Officials stated that the extension aims to improve last-mile connectivity and accommodate rising passenger demand in the rapidly growing region. The Aqua Line, operated by the Noida Metro Rail Corporation, currently connects key residential and commercial hubs across Noida and Greater Noida. The approved extension is expected to provide smoother interchange options with the Delhi Metro network, benefiting office-goers, students, and other commuters. Authorities believe the project will ease congestion on major roads, promote public transport usage, and support sustainable urban mobility. Construction timelines and operational dates are expected to be announced following detailed implementation planning.
