2 Killed, Over 20 Injured as Double-Decker Bus Overturns in Delhi’s Karol Bagh

New Delhi, March 25, 2026: A tragic late-night accident in central Delhi claimed two lives and left more than 20 passengers injured after a double-decker sleeper bus overturned in the Karol Bagh area.

The incident occurred around 1 am near the Jhandewalan temple when the bus, travelling from Jaipur, reportedly lost control and overturned on the road. At the time of the accident, approximately 25 passengers were on board.

Emergency services rushed to the spot soon after the crash. Fire personnel and rescue teams worked swiftly to evacuate passengers trapped inside the vehicle. According to eyewitness accounts, at least two children and a woman were initially stuck beneath the overturned bus before being rescued.

The injured were immediately taken to nearby hospitals, where they are currently undergoing treatment. Authorities have not yet released detailed information on their condition.

Visuals from the scene showed extensive damage to the bus, including shattered windows, broken seats, and detached parts scattered across the road—highlighting the severity of the crash.

Preliminary investigations suggest that overspeeding may have been a key factor behind the accident. Officials are continuing their probe to determine the exact cause.

The incident took place during the ongoing Navratri celebrations, near the busy Jhandewalan temple area, raising concerns about road safety and traffic management during peak festive periods.
