Bangladesh NSA Dr. Khalilur Rahman Meets India’s NSA Ajit Doval in New Delhi

Bangladesh’s National Security Adviser, Dr. Khalilur Rahman, met India’s NSA Ajit Doval in New Delhi on Tuesday during his visit to attend the high-level Colombo Security Conclave. The meeting underscores the growing strategic engagement between the two neighbouring countries, particularly in the areas of regional security, counterterrorism, and maritime cooperation.
Dr. Rahman arrived in New Delhi ahead of the multilateral security dialogue, which brings together NSAs from key Indian Ocean region nations. His interaction with Ajit Doval comes at a time when India and Bangladesh continue to deepen cooperation on issues such as cross-border security, intelligence sharing, and emerging threats in the Bay of Bengal region.
During the meeting, both sides discussed mechanisms to further enhance security collaboration, with a special focus on tackling terrorism networks, strengthening cyber security frameworks, and improving joint responses to transnational crimes. Officials familiar with the discussions said the two NSAs also exchanged views on expanding maritime domain awareness and ensuring stability in the Indo-Pacific.
Dr. Rahman’s visit is seen as an important diplomatic engagement, especially as both nations navigate evolving geopolitical dynamics and security challenges. India’s close coordination with Bangladesh has been a key component of New Delhi’s neighbourhood-first policy, while Dhaka continues to prioritise strong regional partnerships.
The Colombo Security Conclave, which Dr. Rahman is attending during his Delhi visit, is expected to deliberate on counterterrorism, maritime safety, and disaster response. His meeting with Ajit Doval is likely to shape the tone of upcoming bilateral initiatives aimed at strengthening strategic ties between the two countries.
