16th Finance Commission Submits 2026–31 Report to President Droupadi Murmu
The members of the 16th Finance Commission, led by Chairman Dr. Arvind Panagariya, met President Droupadi Murmu and officially presented their report for the period 2026–31.
The submission marks a crucial step toward finalising recommendations that will shape:
- 🔹 Centre–State revenue sharing
- 🔹 Fiscal consolidation
- 🔹 Grants to states
- 🔹 Local body funding
- 🔹 Long-term financial governance framework
This five-year report will directly impact the economic planning and resource distribution across the country, guiding the Union and state governments on fiscal discipline and equitable development.
With this submission, the Commission’s recommendations are expected to be reviewed and implemented by the Union Government in the upcoming financial cycle.
